The 2nd Chance fund at Community Animal Hospital was established to help our clients, on a case by case basis, who have run into temporary difficult financial times. It is funded entirely by donations from our clients, and some of our staff, as they are able to give. With the help of these very king and generous donations of varying amounts, we have been able to help some of our elderly, single parent, and ill client's four legged furry children to continue to be happy and healthy. We have even been able to help some of our clients enable their pet to have a peaceful passage to fields that are forever green. Get more info here.
During the month of March, a heartworm test is only $25.
Heartworm disease is a very serious condition that can be fatal to your dog and sometimes cats. Heartworms are parasitic roundworms that are transmitted to your pet through the bites of mosquitoes. The heartworm is a small thread-like parasitic worm that can grow up to a foot in length, and can reside in the heart, lungs and blood vessels of your pet. These blood borne parasites can cause lung disease and heart failure. There is not way to tell if mosquitoes are infected with heartworms and pets with heartworm disease show no signs or symptoms. However, there is good news. Prevention is the best way that you can protect your pet against this dangerous parasite. A simple low cost blood test can tell us whether your pet has been exposed to this disease. If the test is negative, a once a month heartworm preventative can protect your pet against the threat of heartworms.
